Ocean And Beach Quotes

I love the beach. The sound of the waves, the smell of salt in the air, the ever-changing scenery, the sand under my feet – it’s heaven as far as I’m concerned. Whether you spent your childhood summers going on beach vacations with your family, grew up on a beach (like I did) or are lucky enough to have a beach house of your own, you know what I’m talking about. There is such a sense of peace and freedom to look out over the ocean and not be able to see where it ends. Ponds certainly have their place in the universe, but they just cannot compare to the open seas. It seems many people – famous and not – feel the same way. Below are some of my favorite beach quotes and sayings.

“Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.”
Robert Henri

“The sea was angry that day, my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.”
George Costanza, in “The Marine Biologist”

“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
Jacques Cousteau

“On the beach, you can live in bliss.”

“The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach”
Henry Beston

On the beach
Chris Rea

“You know the way you smell when you first come home from the beach? Well, I want to make a cologne that captures the essence of that smell”
Cosmo Kramer

Nobody on the road,
nobody on the beach.
I feel it in the air,
the summers out of reach
Don Henley

“Among the many thousands of things that I have never been able to understand, one in particular stands out. That is the question of who was the first person who stood by a pile of sand and said, “You know, I bet if we took some of this and mixed it with a little potash and heated it, we could make a material that would be solid and yet transparent. We could call it glass.” Call me obtuse, but you could stand me on a beach till the end of time and never would it occur to me to try to make it into windows.”
Bill Bryson

“You’ll never find your gold on a sandy beach”
Jim Steinman

“You never know how many friends you have until you rent a house on the beach”
Unknown

“It’s hard for me to put into words why I like the beach so much. Everything about it is renewing for me, almost like therapy…Beach Therapy”
Amy Dykens

“At the beach, life is different. A day moves not from hour to hour but leaps from mood to moment. We go with the currents, plan around the tides, follow the sun.”
Sandy Gingras

“Love the sea? I dote upon it – from the beach.”
Douglas Jerrold

“Today at the beach I could feel the men dressing me with their eyes.”
Jere Carlson

“Total physical and mental inertia are highly agreeable, much more so than we allow ourselves to imagine. A beach not only permits such inertia but enforces it, thus neatly eliminating all problems of guilt. It is now the only place in our overly active world that does.”
John Kenneth Galbraith
